COME TO A DAY OF CELEBRATION , ALL WELCOME !

I know a lot of you are still finding out about Robert and are in disbelief at what has hapenned . Yesterday i went in to Roberts craft room for the first time just as he had left it . I put on his Reggae music which used to drive me mad . I shut the door and left it playing all day . Later when i was tidying up downstairs , i suddenly shouted up " would you like a coffee " Of course there was no reply , and i just thought to myself , hes too busy crafting and listening to that crazy music .

Roberts Celebration ( im not calling it funeral ) will take place on :

Tuesday 24th July
Where : The magnificent SOUTHWELL CATHEDRAL MINSTER .
Time ( to be advised ) :  but not before 12.00 to allow time for you all to get there .

The celebration of Roberts life will be taken by the Canon of Southwell Minster .

The cathedral organ will be playing .

This is a huge privilage for this to be granted at the Minster but Robert has touched the hearts of many over the years and deserves nothing less.

It is a celebration , therefore we want you all to come along from far and wide to join in with us in this magnificent setting . This is not to be just a family funeral . Please please try to be there to help us all celebrate , to smile and have a little giggle . This is what Robert gave to us all , now its your chance to return it back .

Please post a message to let me and others know you can come along, say which area you are from and maybe you can share a car with likeminded crafters or even hire a small minibus to bring along your crafting group.

After the service at the minster those who would like to , can then come along to the Tythe Green Burial Ground not too far away for the Natural burial of our Robert in a woodland meadow setting near to the burial place of another crafter who suddenly left us last december , Sarah Lawrence .

If you choose not to , you can have a great day out in the lovely old town of Southwell and Newark is only next door.

At the graveside all are welcome to say something if they wish to do so .

I hope you all think i am doing something quite wonderful for Robert , but he really deserves nothing less , he made you all smile , laugh and admire his great and inspiring talents .

Robert loved crafting and he loved being a born entertainer.

I hope to see as many of you as possible one the day , please help me spread the word on other forums , groups etc .

Thank you one again to you all.

I will keep you all fully informed.

Love and Smiles

Gordon x

  1. I'm sorry I can't be there in person to attend this celebration but I promise I will be thinking of you. You sound as if you're organising a really special event and I bet Robert would have loved it.

  3. You have done him proud with the preparations, Gordon. He will love it. I am sorry, but I will be away when the celebration takes place, but I know Tithe Green Burial ground so I will go and visit when I get back. A wonderful setting, with lots of birds. I've seen Buzzards there, Nightjars close by and lots of the birds that you find in your garden too. It is perfect

  4. Dear Gordon

I am someone you do not know, you will have seen my on a craftshow perhaps. I have used your online shop too and when I had trouble with the order it was sorted out over the phone very quickly and efficiently.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss but hope that you are able to take comfort in the wonderful tribute you are planning for Robert. I also hope that you can feel that there are so many out there to help you carry this burden.

We are walking along the same path, Robert has just walked ahead of you for a while. You will eventually catch him up and once again you will walk side by side.

Take care and thank you for sharing. I admire you a lot for the strength you are showing in what must be a difficult time for you personally.

  5. I would not miss this celebration of a man who gave so much. Heading from Solihull but will take anyone from Birmingham if need be.

  6. Dear Gordon,
You will not know me, but I met both you & Robert at several craft shows, including Worthing a few years ago. I would just like to offer my sincere condolences to you. Robert seemed to be the most infectiously happy person I've ever met & I was very sad to hear of his passing. The crafting world has lost a brilliant & inspirational mind. I hope the 24th went as well as it could have done & that you are coping at this time of sorrow. Thinking of you. Lou Thompson.
