    1. Interesting , but not sure if there are the numbers around your area who would attend such a show to make it worthwhile.

    2. I'm sure a good show in Dumfries (being the main centre for the area) would attract people from all over south Scotland and probably Cumbria as well. There is a venue in Dumfries ( the DG One Leisure Complex, similar to the Dome at Doncaster) which would be suitable, I think. Not everyone can afford, wishes or is able to go to the big shows in Glasgow or Edinburgh. SW Scotland is very poorly served for both shows and shops, so I reckon there would be enough demand, but I guess you know the market much better than I do!

  2. Hi, I think someone has already suggested it, but I would like to see a show at Newark again or somewhere nearby.

I would like to see a show of medium size, with lots of choice but not lots of repetition and just to make it perfect, bargains and demos.

I've been to several shows lots of times, including NEC, Ally Pally and Newark when it used to be on,

    NEC -
Pros Has a good mix of things available to buy at reasonable prices. Lots of exhibitors, all the famous brands etc.
Cons - Too big and cramped together, claustrophobic and verging on dangerous. Although there is a good mix of things for sale, there is alot of repetition, the show could probably be cut in two if the organizers where a little more selective. 1.5hrs travel to get there and then 1.5hrs drive back home.
Horrendous break / lunchtime facilities, everytime I have gone, I have had to sit on the floor to stop for a break because there are inadequate facilities (we need to refuel to keep on shopping!)

    Ally Pally
Pros - Laid out very well, lots of space between aisles, lots of tables and chairs for break space. Demos by Sue Wilson, Julia watts, Sam Poole etc Got to see a London show on the Saturday as we went for weekend.
Cons - Not a good mix of products, not many bargains to be had, prices normal shop prices (I dont want to pay for travel to london, hotel etc and then just get regular prices).
I couldnt get everything on my list - I walked out with £200 still in my purse, which is a crime in my eyes.

    Newark -
Pros - Close to home, easy to get to, free parking, Just the right size, reasonable facilites. Laid out well, demos and inspiration.
Bargains and a good selection of items from a variety of brands.

Cons - As a customer there are no cons, but there must have been from a business point of view for the show to stop

Look forward to the news of a new show
    Helen x

    1. Interesting , but as always there has to be a venue where one large enough could be held . If you know of one let me know.

  5. Anything in the Essex/Suffolk area would be fantastic. Us crafters in east anglia would love a nearby show with choice, but not too big, so we can actually see whats for sale and spend our money, please?

    1. Interesting as there are craft shows in your area , newcastle , sunderland etc . Im afraid from what i have seen over the years , they are not too well attended but it is worth looking at again and i will bear this in mind.

  10. Hi

Thanks for that . Unfortunately every show that seems to be tried in the derby notts area has pretty much failed and i have attended shows here for over 20 years .
I have always wondered why , but cant come up with an answer to that. Similarly shows in nearby sheffield also seem to suffer the same fate from what i have seen so far.

  13. I'm a Londoner so I appreciate shows which are accessible by public transport, I don't drive and can't always find friends who have cars any more! Stevenage is good because it is so easy by train.

  14. I live in Swindon in Wiltshire, and also travel to shows by public transport. I do attend the show at the NEC but have also travelled to shows at Farnborough, Newbury and Cardiff -all these show have free car parking facilites, as well as London. Have not tried Stevenage. Also going to the Malvern Show, now the I have found out the rail route! But would not go to 'Donnington' again. Jenny (PS I am not a robot!)

    1. Thank you . Stevenage is an excellent show , i recommend it to you . The girls from Stamp Addicts are lovely and run it very well . Newbury was our very first ever show about 12 years ago , but unfortunately it is far too expensive to stand there for what you get which is a great pity . Do you think there is room for another show there at another time of the year ? Likewise with farnborough , the cost of doing the show is now prohibitive .
