The A4 Machine has arrived : FIRST TEST RESULTS !

We waited in anticipation at the warehouse today from 8am this morning . Finally in the afternoon the machine arrived   and we got stuck in to putting it through its paces :

Dies : All thin metal dies up to A4 : Excellent results !

Dies : Sizzix thick dies : Excellent results !

Sizzix strip dies : Excellent results !

Embossing folders : up to A4 : Excellent results : various makes  !

Embossing stencils : Plastic or Brass : Excellent results !

Charms and coins on to embossing foil ( up to thickness of a 10p coin :Excellent results !

Wire mesh : Excellent results on to embossing foil and mirror card !

Lace material : Excellent results on to embossing foil !

Dried Seaweed ( Honest ! ) : Excellent results on to foil and mirror card !

Thin plastic stencils embossed on to even thin white paper : Excellent results !

We have also manages to cut Spellbinder dies through up to three sheets of card at once !

This machine is exceeding our expectations in every sense and we are finding we can do a lot of things that our No More Shims mat can do for the other machines.

To do all of the above , all we have used are the two plates with the machine and the embossing mat , there is nothing else required !

We have more tests to conduct tomorrow but so far so good . Try the above in your Grand Callibur if you dare , we know what the results will be !

One other thing , you will know how the grand callibur takes the plates through very slowly with many turns of the handle , this is not the case with our machine , it is much quicker and easier to use .

We are being very honest with you and of course we can demonstrate all of the above to prove we can do these things.

I hope you all like the sound of this !

If you would like to help us by spreading the word through other forums and Blogs that would be much appreciated as we are being thrown off for just talking about the machine . Thank you.

Gordon

  3. Oh, the more you write about this machine ....the more I NEED it....I for one "like the sound of it" very much...I have a Grand Calibur and a big Shot Express. I use both daily, going from one to the other, if I don't get a very good "cut" from one....I go to the other.....But if this machine does all what you say all I can say is WOW..and Thank you..x

    1. It does all we say it does and the cut is excellent with everything we tried today . For once it really will do what everyone expects from a decent sturdy machine . We really have put it to the test today , more tomorrow.

My partner just bought me a Grand Calibur wish I'd waited but hoping he'll buy the larger machine .Good luck not that you'll need it

    1. We will be showing pics of the machine after the UK trade show , but not the actual colours as these are in production. We will be making videos once the machines are delivered around the end of April . Around the summer we will have the all new 12 X 12 machine which again features the new patented technology which makes these machines so different from anything coming to the market including the new Fiskars Fuse which requires the purchase os an adapter kit for around £50 before you can use other dies etc . Our machine will need none of this , just two plates just like the A4 machine . The 12 x 12 will be a much heavier machine and not really to be considered as a portable machine , although it will fold up in half for ease of storage . Hope this helps . Gordon.

  8. You've mentioned it cutting the thick Sizzix dies. By thick do you mean the Bigz dies rather than the Sizzlits? If so I may be very interested depending on the price etc, of course. i don't own an A4 machine as I won't buy one that won't take all dies on the market. Low profile are fine but I have a lot of the Bigz and Bigz XL so need to cut them as well and I've only space for one machine ....

    1. Hi
It will cut all Sizzlits including the long strip dies perfectly. Also cuts all Bigz dies up to the size of A4 with ease . This machine is incredibly strong and can take an enormous amount of pressure without the fear of breaking apart inside . We have tried to break it intentionally but cannot . We have also tested the machine with fabric , felt , leather etc with excellent results . We are being very honest about our findings , we have no intention of selling such a machine unless we can stand by our words . Gordon

  9. Was thinking of purchasing a calibur at the beginning of march, but I will wait now. I like the idea of being able to use all the different thickness dies without messing about with different plate mixes and then shims if it doesn't cut or emboss properly..such a pain. It would be great if there were going to be some videos on its capabilities once it is launched at the trade fair..it might get people more excited about it.

    1. Hi debbie . We will be working on videos etc after the trade show , but we mat wait until we have the actual machine in our colours when they arrive , not sure as yet . We may produce some sort of taster video . However we will have the machine at a few shows to let everyone see how it works for themselves . The first show after the trade show will be at Stevenage in february followed by Harrogate and Port Sunlight show. If you can get to one of these you can see the machine in action . Gordon

  10. Hi Gordon

I am in the market for a die cutting machine and thought I was going to order the Big Kick Vintaj from you as the price/package is excellent. Having read your blog though I am now hesitating! From a 'future-proofing' point of view your new machine sounds ideal and I am surprised nobody has come out with a machine like this before. Are you able to give any clues about a ballpark price so I know whether to hold off on the Big Kick? Thanks.

  11. Hi Gordon, Does this machine cut the spellbinders new gold die's with just one pass as when using the GC it is taking up to 4 passes and lots of moving the die around the plate to get it to cut.

    Thanx

    1. Hi
We, like all other UK retailers do not have any of the new spellbinder dies of yet . Spellbinders in there infinite wisdom have given them to a well known TV channel well before the retailers , much to the annoyance of all in the craft trade we think . This was expressed very clearly at the trade show. We have put very detailed dies through and they have cut perfectly in most cases on the first run through the machine because of the pressure .
